Who We Are -- A History of Hannic

Hannic Truck Brokerage, Inc. was founded on August 5, 1988 by Debra Maass (current president) and Hans Maass (current vice-president). Although beginning as a brokerage, it was decided that more could be offered to both shippers and carriers alike in doing business as a freight forwarder. Hannic would act as the carrier to the shipper, and the shipper to the carrier -- meaning Hannic takes liability for cargo once it is loaded onto the truck until it is delivered to the specified consignee. Hannic Freight Forwarders, Inc. moved it's first load in 1991, and obtained the freight forwarder authority when they became required in 1996. Hannic now works solely as a surface freight forwarder.

While Hannic has the ability to handle any type of food freight (except HazMat), the company has found a niche in working with time-sensitive refrigerated foods. Beginning with a few smaller food companies wanting to distribute their products nationwide, Hannic was able to develop as specialists in multi-stop, over-the-road refrigerated truckloads. We still work with several of these same companies today and continue to customize services to fit their needs.

Hannic stays up-to-date with current industry trends by attending periodic trade meetings held by TIA and other associations. One of the regular presenters at many of these seminars is RJ Ahmann Company, the same insurance company Hannic has been with since its inception in 1988.
